Go Tell It.......

Have you ever wondered what's missing from society?
Why is crime on the rise and respect in decline?

We were told to do something that we have as a society neglected...
TELL......

Psalm 145:4 Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. 5 I will meditate[b] on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles. 6 Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim your greatness. 7 Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy about your righteousness.

You don't have to go tell it on a mountain...how about your kids, a neighbor, a co-worker a friend? Tell what mighty acts God has done for you.

The Long and Short of It...

The Longest Psalm is Psalm 119, and the shortest is 117.

Psalm 119 tells us: How to Use God's Word (the Bible)

~Live according to its laws (Psalm 119:1)

~Hide its words in your heart (Psalm 119:11)

~Obey what is says to do (Psalm 119:57)

~Meditate on its teachings (Psalm 119:78)

~Rejoice in its promises (Psalm 119:162)

And Psalm 117 tells us:

~To Give God Praise...His love is forever...Praise Him some more!

That's the Long and Short of it...But:

Sandwiched in between the two is Psalm 118 and it is the smack-dab-middle of the Bible. I wonder what He was thinking when He planned this scripture to be in this order? People want to argue over translations and language issues...but that's a discussion for another day.

GOD IS COOL and you couldn't have used any computer system we have today to make all these scriptures work together so well. Check out these 3 Psalms for yourself.

God has a method...we don't have to understand it to trust Him, but it is cool to see how brilliant He has always been, in any language!

And in the words of a great philosopher, "I love it when a plan comes together"! And this book, The Bible, is the greatest plan ever!

Trust in Him today. Read His Word and obey what you read. I'll give it a shot too.

Faith in Jesus as Savior saves us, but the instructions in His book will guide us.
Boy, am I thankful to have access to this truth. Pray for those who are the persecuted church around the world who do not have access to the Word of GOD or the freedom to share their faith. Just this week alone, Christians in Morocco have been thrown out of their homes and country and a church in India was ransacked.
What a privilege to be able to read the Bible today.

Psalm 118:28-29

You are my God, and I will give you thanks; you are my God, and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

In God We Trust?

I was sort of restless during the night tossing a bit and maybe a turn or two. So
today I rose a little earlier than usual to try and get some outside chores done to beat the heat and make a trip to the store to beat the crowds.
I think the tossing and turning may have been, like many of us in this economy right now, due to working out financial issues in my head. God is good and we have never missed a meal. Why then do circumstances that may be uncertain let us forget His promises to us to provide abundantly? "Shocked" you say, "Kathy, that a stay at home mom with a part time speaking/blogging/writing gig is not just independently wealthy"...Uh...Nope!

Just the short drive from our house to the local store was enough for my mind to spin into the "what if" zone as I was calculating the groceries I wanted to purchase versus what I could afford for today.
"What if" can be a real exhausting question! "What if the economy doesn't get better?" "What if we can't afford college for the next two kids?" "What if insurance keeps going up?" "What if the Money runs out before the Month" "What if...what if...what if...?

My knuckles were tighter on the steering wheel than when I started the drive. I felt a little frustrated even kind of angry. Fear, frustration and anger are all party favors at a pity party you know.
So as I was concluding my little trip down "what if" road, I pulled into the parking lot of the store, turned off the car and looked in my wallet to reconcile the shopping list with the funds available. I pulled a twenty dollar bill out of my purse and in big bold letters the words "IN GOD WE TRUST" glared at me. I was humbled at just how blessed our family has been. He has never failed us nor forsaken us. He has never been early mind you, but always on time with provision.

This morning, I was focused on my circumstance and not my God who is trustworthy. If you are in another country and IN GOD WE TRUST is not on your currency, it can be in your heart. I snapped a picture of it to share with you above this post.

So my question to you no matter where you are right now, is...WHO DO YOU PLACE YOUR TRUST IN TODAY?

And Father,
How faithful you have been to provide for us. I know you know the needs of everyone reading this today. There are some who really don't know where the next twenty dollars will come from. You know. There are some who are physically exhausted and need strength and don't know how to change their situation. You know. There are some who just need reassurance that you will not only provide financially or physically but emotionally right now. You know each of our needs. Please sustain us and provide for your children as we remember to put our trust in you. If there is someone reading that does not know the comfort of being your child, please draw them to you that they would believe on the Lord Jesus as Savior and learn to rely on you.
In Jesus Name I pray,
AMEN

Philipians 4:19
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Thank you for the groceries!

How Can You Miss Me If I Don't Go Away?

..........I
have missed visiting with you this past week. I hope all is well with the continent on which you live. I have been blessed by comments from 3 different continents now on A Gentle Answer Ministries. It is so awesome that God followers can come together with technology. I am thrilled to see how we encourage one another and use what some would mean for evil (the internet) for good.
I would like to ask if you would please pray for all the communities hit by weather, natural disasters and even man made disasters this past few weeks. Oklahoma City has been hit hard this week by flooding that swept over the town with no warning. Also, our neighbors in Arkansas have suffered a great loss of life as literally some never knew what hit them. We are in prayer for the folks at a campground in Langley, Arkansas where several families went to sleep and never knew what happened as the water rose so fast they were swept away without warning. It was an odd feeling to be relaxing on a short trip to come in from the pool and hear this sad news. The mixed emotions of relief that our home and our family were all okay and the brokenness for those who could not say the same...were emotions that were quite overwhelming. I still know our God is in control. But I have a sense of urgency to share the truth of the salvation found only by placing your faith in Jesus Christ. I still believe one day there will be no more suffering, loss, pain or sorrow for the body of Christ. I hope you will look for the opportunities that God puts in your life to share the one and only hope, Jesus, to escape the coming final disaster.

Let's not forget to share our prayers, our possessions, our time, our love but most of all let's share the truth of the good news of being able to place your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and the truth that faith in Him will save. And please, let's not make the mistake of thinking we have plenty of time to share. We never know...

I missed writing to you this past week and I missed hearing from you. But again, How can you miss me if I don't go away?

You know, Jesus went away for a time. He is preparing a place for me and for you if you have placed your faith in Him. He promised to come again to take us "that you may be where I am also"...

John 14

Jesus Comforts His Disciples

1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God[a]; trust also in me. 2In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Invest in Marble

You've heard it said about forgiveness...

"Write injuries in sand, kindnesses in marble."

Well...sometimes I need a bigger sandbox!

Colossians 3:13
Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Just Keepin' it real,

Kathy
