Blushing in 50 Shades of Grey

Several friends have asked if I have read the book 50 Shades...yet...or if I will see the movie.

When I first heard of this through a friend in California who was reading the book, I was going to read it in order to review it.  I am never a big fan of folks who give critic's reviews without reading.

I was not too fond of Pelosi asking us to pass and only then find out what the healthcare bill contained but I digress. Back on subject now.

As I took the steps to settle this in my mind and heart and make this activity line up with my Christian World View - I COULD NOT!

Many of you will disagree. I appreciate very much your perspective if you do NOT hold a Christian worldview. I get it.

So let me ask you...Do you claim to be a Christian? If yes...are you still going to go see this movie or read the books?

If yes...DID YA FALL DOWN AND SMACK YOUR LITTLE HEAD ON THE TILE FLOOR?

You must have... because you seem to have forgotten who you are. Whose you are.

"Kathy, this is just a fun night out with the girls" or  "It's just a date night to spice up our marriage

Umm...really?

You really want to sit in a crowded room full of strangers who will become either aroused or uncomfortable? In my day... that was called an orgy!

That sounds ok to you?

What the flock?   This is not romance...this is $#!+...I mean...this is material harmful to the natural and healthy expression of the God given gift of sex.

Let me ask you if you think you would be comfy watching this movie in front of your pastor?  Your daughter?  Your Jesus? No?  Oh.

Then...Stop this crazy justification starting with any sentence that says "It's JUST A_________" (fill in your own blank excuse)!

Face this please...      this    IS    PORN!   PORN IS PORN!     Mommy porn, any porn.

Have NO VILE THING before your eyes.

Ephesians 5:3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving...

"Kathy, You're uptight!"   Nope.  Hop on over to Song of Solomon and knock yourself out (pun intended...only not in that whole Grey sort of way) Steamy!

God is the author of the Bible.

God wants us to enjoy intimate, close, precious, fantastic sex between a man and a woman in marriage.

GO FOR IT!   But it is to be beautifully private, preciously honoring to the other person, and in NO WAY done through any harmful or violent behavior stemming from an early childhood abusive relationship.

I will not be reading or reviewing this content. THAT...IS  my review!

This does not speak to what I think 'you' should do just because you are a Christian but because you live your life before God, not me.

However, As for me and my house...

If you can finish that sentence, you know it is tough sometimes to take a stand but sometimes it is just plain simple. If you claim Christ, you choose NOT to see this movie or read these books.

You can in no way serve the Lord through viewing this Sh.. I mean film.  Yep, no coarse language...sorry! You also cannot serve your husband well by trying to 'escape' or 'spice up' in any way that does not honor him or your marriage.  How about you pay more attention to the good things about your husband.  How about telling him...showing him...

Save the price of the tickets and buy some steak and strawberries (or pomegranates - Ode to Solomon) and make your very own romantic evening.  Honor each other...honor the Lord.

If you still feel you need to see this ...come over and I'll kick your fanny and remind you who you are!

Love,

Kathy
