I know first hand how our intentions and our mouths sometimes don't play well together.
But have you noticed how everyday careless words can either crack you up or insult you? My daughter and I stopped at a convenience store to get a soda and the young man behind the counter looked at me and said,"DO YOU HAVE GAS?". Well after a mutual little chuckle between my daughter and I, I looked right at him and said, "No, DO YOUR FEET STINK?" He did not chuckle so much with us!
I know sometimes my words can get rearranged from my brain to my mouth and really end up in someone's ears in apparently a new language. It can and has result in giggling, anger, hurt, embarrassment and sometimes deep resentment. So,the goal of this post is to encourage you to try to let our brain and mouth work in unity a little more. I have found that at times... quiet is good!!!©
Proverbs 15:1
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Proverbs 15:2
The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.
Psalm 139:4
Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord.
Sure...Blame God for not Editing your words better...that's what I have done!
Well...I sometimes think...if God knew I was going to say the wrong thing why didn't He stop me?!!
Guess I need to listen a little better to His prompting me to speak or shut up! (Yes I know we don't say shut up at my house!)
So according to the above scripture; 1)Be gentle, 2)don't gush, and 3)listen to your editor!
God sometimes cracks me up! Just listen through your day to some of the silly things people say. Then tell me God does not have a sense of humor!
Do You Have Gas?
Just Thinkin'
