RUN FORREST RUN...

We often complain as Christians how tough it is to have victory over our sin. Paul in Romans gives us clear instruction on this!

Romans 13:11-14
11And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. 14Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

1)Wake up! 2)Put on Christ! 3)Live for HIM!

WAKE UP! Don't doze off spiritually. Don't go places and be with people that take you into sinful mode. If you are an addict don't hang out with addicts! If you are an alcoholic don't go to bars! If you are a gossip,,,shut up and don't hang out with gossips! (Yes again I know we don't say shut up at my house!)If you are a foodie struggling with weight...stay away from the doughnut shop!

Dr. David Jeremiah tells a story of a man dealing with his weight. The man said to his counselor ,"I have trouble getting the victory over Doughnuts." He told the counselor that there was a doughnut shop right on his way to work. Every morning he found himself eating one...then another...maybe another etc.. So the counselor told the man to find another route to work. (DUH) So the man took the alley behind the doughnut shop to work with great success for about 2 months. Then one day he had a great craving for a doughnut. So he prayed, "Lord, I am going to go around the block and if there is a parking spot right in front of the door to the shop, I will consider it okay to go in." And sure enough...the man did find a spot right up front...ON THE EIGHTH TIME AROUND THE BLOCK!!!!

Do you do that with your area of temptation? WELL STOP IT! Don't give yourself a set up to fail.

PUT ON CHRIST the same way you put on your clothes in the morning. You get dressed so you can present yourself before others without shame. If you put on Christ you will not be as ready to take him to the places and around the people that enable you to fail.
NOW LIVE FOR HIM...

Maybe Jenny had it right with her advice to Forrest Gump. She was a good enough friend to see trouble running at her friend and said...

"RUN FORREST RUN!"

I'll work on this...won't you?

ANYWHERE,,,EVERYWHEN!

Where do you tell people about your savior Jesus? Who do you tell about Jesus? When do you tell about Jesus?

I love the teachings and writings of G. Campbell Morgan. One of his famous quotes makes us remember when GOD says go...go! When GOD says speak...speak! If he says step out on the water...step!

The quote is this;

. . . The Spirit witnessing in me, I become the instrument through which the Spirit witnesses to the world. Where? Anywhere. When? Everywhen.

Have you allowed God to use you as His instrument through which the Spirit can witness? No banging people over the head with a bible, no screaming from a sidewalk, just live it! Morgan also said...

"God has foreordained the works to which He has called you. He has been ahead of you preparing the place to which you are coming and manipulating all the resources of the universe in order that the work you do may be a part of His whole great and gracious work."

Whether you are willing to just pray for your waitstaff at the restaurant, help a neighbor, be the best boss you can be, be the best employee you can be, be the best spouse you can be, teach a bible class or just be a good witness to your own children...God has something in the works for you to do!
Nike don't sue me...but JUST DO IT!

Where...ANYWHERE... When...EVERYWHEN!

ARE YOU A TEMPLE?

As Christians...we pray for each other and I am so thankful for that.
My family has gone through a weird year of health issues and we have drawn comfort from the prayers of other believers. It caused me to remember that long before the CROSS OF CHRIST, Solomon asked the Lord to care for those of us who would turn to GOD. What an awesome gift to receive; the prayers of another who loves GOD!
Did Solomon pray for you? ARE YOU A TEMPLE?

At the dedication of the temple (2 Chronicles 6 and 7) Solomon prayed for YOU!!! If you are a believer in Christ Jesus...SOLOMON PRAYED FOR YOU!
How cool is that? If you don't think He did read the scripture found in
2 Chronicles 6:32
"As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm—when he comes and prays toward this temple, 33 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name.

34 "When your people go to war against their enemies, wherever you send them, and when they pray to you toward this city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name, 35 then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.

36 "When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive to a land far away or near; 37 and if they have a change of heart in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity and say, 'We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly'; 38 and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their captivity where they were taken, and pray toward the land you gave their fathers, toward the city you have chosen and toward the temple I have built for your Name; 39 then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their pleas, and uphold their cause. And forgive your people, who have sinned against you.

40 "Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. "

So...Are you a Foreigner? A Gentile? Not born of original Jewish heritage but a follower of Jesus Christ? He prayed first for the Nation of Israel before verse 32 then for the Gentiles that would follow the God of Abraham. Since the Cross of Christ canceled the need for temple worship or sacrifice, where is God's dwelling place? He no longer dwells over the Mercy Seat described in the Old Testament. The bible tells us you now have, as a believer in Christ, the Holy Spirit living and dwelling in YOU! You are the TEMPLE.

1 Corinthians 6:19 tells us you are;
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

So...do you offer the prayers mentioned above IN THIS PLACE? THE TEMPLE IS YOU. If you are a Christian YOU are the dwelling place (TEMPLE) of the Spirit of the Lord...and can offer prayers and pleas, and ask for forgiveness and protection and healing. Or...are you "being held captive" by sin?
Repentance is the key that opens the prison door. To enter into His presence (according to the above scripture) you must turn back to God with all your heart and soul. Right there in the Land of your captivity, while you were still a sinner, Christ died for you. He did not say clean up your act first. He loves you right were you are.

Have you confessed (v.37) "you have sinned, done wrong, acted wickedly"? Then did you turn (repent) from those actions and trust Christ. If yes, You are THE TEMPLE. And I ask that God be attentive to the prayers you offer to Him.

IF YOU ARE NOT A CHILD OF THE LIVING GOD- I want to encourage you to understand Christ died for you. He waits for you to accept His offer to live as a child of the King. You accept the gift of eternal life by confessing your sins and your need for a savior. Put your faith in Him as Lord and Savior of your life. Just believe He is who He said He was in the Bible and ask Him to come into your life and forgive you of your sin...You will be Saved! Nothing you have ever done is beyond His ability to forgive you and save you. It is like opening a gift card at Christmas that someone else purchased for you. This card says:

"GIFT OF LIFE...Love, JESUS!"
Value= Eternal Life.
PRICELESS...NO LIMIT!

If you choose LIFE,then find a church that teaches truth from the Bible. Start reading the Bible which is God's love letter addressed to you. Read and obey what you read.
Please Trust HIM! Your LIFE depends on it.
He loves you.

Thanks for your prayers,
Know that you are in mine.
I may not know your name...Our Father does! I ask HIM today to "uphold your cause"...whatever it may be;

Health
Finances
Relationships
Employment
Unemployment
Trust
Fear
Addiction
Pain
Pride
Envy
Discouragement
Disappointment
Whatever hurts right now...what ever is praiseworthy;

He knows what concerns you.

They will not hold their newborn baby today.
They will not kiss their husband or wife goodnight tonight, and for some...ever again.
They will not forget you are their reason to be away for now.
They will not forget...Don't forget them.

Romans 8:37

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who lived us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Seriously...?

Kathy Lonsinger is...
Bummed about Death care, I mean , Health Care plan passing....but not bummed for long...God did not wake up today and go, "Your kidding me...how did that happen?' Trust Him and Him alone!!!

People Will Let You Down...God Will Lift You Back UP

Guess what? In this world you will have trouble! Jesus promised you that. But He quickly reminded those listening that HE has overcome the world.
John 16:33
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

If you belong to Him that promise is for you.
People are going to hurt you, disappoint you and let you down. Guess why? You are in this world. Guess what else? You are going to hurt people, disappoint them and let them down. Again...can you guess why? You are in this world.

Let's look at someone who set a standard for us to follow while dealing with disappointment directly caused by the choices of others: Joseph...

Pushed into a pit by jealousy- brought out of the pit by greed -locked in prison by lies- forgotten by selfishness but sustained by Faith in God, Joseph is our shadow of a Christ-like response in a Satan-like world.
If anyone should have felt pity and anger and disappointment it was Joseph. His own brothers who should of been protecting him started the cycle of great harm that faced him for almost 13 years. Has someone hurt you? Maybe you are facing broken trust right now. Maybe you have deep disappointment in the character of a trusted friend. Maybe you are the disappointment to someone else. Guess what? God can and will lift you back out of the pit of hurt and disappointment if you let Him. Forgiveness is His gift to you. Are you willing to share that forgiveness with others? Mercy is easier to give when it has been received. I am not telling you the pain and hurt and disappointment will instantly go away simply by choosing to forgive. I am telling you nothing you face is a mystery to God. If you are His and you are facing a trial, He already knows. He knows what Glory you will be able to give to Him in the midst of the hardship if you trust Him. He knows the level of pain it will take to sift or sharpen you in any given area of your life that will be perfected through this trial. Trust Him.
No matter what Joseph faced, He kept his eyes on the LORD. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ you have something even Joseph did not have available during his struggles...the indwelling Holy Spirit. Ask Him to guide you through the trials and hurt you face now. When struggles come to you focus on God and He will in His time reveal to you the purpose for your trials. You may not end up the second most powerful man or woman in the land as Joseph did and save the nations around you but you will serve the intended purpose God has for you. In the meantime surrender this burden to him whether it is of soul, body or mind. Allow Him to carry it for you and rest in His Peace. People will let you down...God will lift you back Up again.
If you have never asked Jesus to be the Lord and Savior of your life, simply ask Him.
The bible says you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead...YOU WILL BE SAVED! That is the plan. That is His offer to you. If you did that...then you do have the Holy Spirit available to you.

Romans 10:9

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Matthew 11:28-30 (New American Standard Bible)

28 "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest."

29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS."

30"For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

I know our hearts often carry the heaviest burdens. Let Jesus take them (your heart and your burden) for you.

DO YOU HAVE GAS?

I know first hand how our intentions and our mouths sometimes don't play well together.
But have you noticed how everyday careless words can either crack you up or insult you? My daughter and I stopped at a convenience store to get a soda and the young man behind the counter looked at me and said,"DO YOU HAVE GAS?". Well after a mutual little chuckle between my daughter and I, I looked right at him and said, "No, DO YOUR FEET STINK?" He did not chuckle so much with us!

I know sometimes my words can get rearranged from my brain to my mouth and really end up in someone's ears in apparently a new language. It can and has result in giggling, anger, hurt, embarrassment and sometimes deep resentment. So,the goal of this post is to encourage you to try to let our brain and mouth work in unity a little more. I have found that at times... quiet is good!!!©

Proverbs 15:1
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 15:2
The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.

Psalm 139:4
Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord.

Sure...Blame God for not Editing your words better...that's what I have done!

Well...I sometimes think...if God knew I was going to say the wrong thing why didn't He stop me?!!

Guess I need to listen a little better to His prompting me to speak or shut up! (Yes I know we don't say shut up at my house!)

So according to the above scripture; 1)Be gentle, 2)don't gush, and 3)listen to your editor!

God sometimes cracks me up! Just listen through your day to some of the silly things people say. Then tell me God does not have a sense of humor!

Can He Get a Thank You?

What a wonderful thing it is to set aside a day to give Thanks. May I just ask, however, why just a day? And who are you Thanking?
I realize our National Holiday was established on the fourth Thursday of November by Franklin D. Roosevelt. I know history teaches us it was celebrated (we think) in 1621 by the surviving Pilgrims after a harsh winter of 1620 along with Samoset, Squanto and some 50 other Wampanoag Indians. I realize my family celebrates a reason to have pumpkin pie before Christmas!!! What I want to know...again, Who are you giving thanks to on the fourth Thursday in November? Do you know the God of the Bible? Do you know His son, Jesus Christ loves you and thought you were important enough to not just shed a tear over but shed every last drop of His blood so that you may be forgiven and live as Holy before a Holy God? I am so thankful for many things today. Thankful for the freedom to write this down and tell you I believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I am free also to pray for my President and leaders to guide us...even ones I did not vote for or agree with. I am so thankful for the men and women who won't be home to have pumpkin pie with their families because they think my freedom is worth fighting and even dying for. (So I ended in a preposition...get over it! I'm free to do so!). I am Thankful for the women who study God's word with me, the Pastors and teachers who mentor me on my walk with God and in His word. I am thankful for food and shelter and clothing and transportation. I am thankful for the mercy and forgiveness I have been given and beg to show the same to others. I am thankful for my family, my freedom and my future. I am not telling you life is easy and happy, happy. joy, joy all the time. I am telling you to know... God loves us, He cares about what matters to you. He is worthy of Honor and Glory and Praise.
Thanks Be to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His work on my behalf on the cross.
I thankfully accept it, and hope you will too.
See if starting today you can let the rest of November be daily a time to give thanks to God.

Jonah 2:9
But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. Salvation comes from the LORD."

Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Colossians 1:3
[ Thanksgiving and Prayer ] We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,

1 Timothy 4:4
For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,

1 Timothy 2:1-7
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time. 7And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.

I am Thankful for you...for taking time to read this.

As always,

Kathy
